About

Liz Middleton is a sculptor and stone letter cutter in London.

Liz trained in fine art at the University of Derby, and stone and letter carving at the City and Guilds of London Art School.  She was awarded a two year artist-in-residence studio from the Hampshire Sculpture Trust, and has exhibited sculptural and site specific installations in solo and group shows in the UK. In 2015 she was commissioned to design and carve a contemporary grotesque for the St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle and became a Yeoman Mason.

Liz is also a long term studio member of architectural design practice Heatherwick Studio, founded by Thomas Heatherwick CBE, one of Britain's most significant designers.  Since 2006 Liz has provided and cared for the studio's infrastructure (archive, buildings, facilities, support staff and systems), lead the development and production of the studio’s only monograph “Thomas Heatherwick: Making” published in 2012 by Thames and Hudson, and first solo exhibition “Heatherwick Studio: Designing the Extraordinary” at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2013.
